13th Hole
The Tee Shot & The Approach
You step onto the 13th tee with one thing in mind, birdie. A very short par 4 with little trouble for the lower handicapper is normally a 3 wood or less in the summer. There is a ditch on the right and some trees down the left in addition to the stream which runs accross the hole at roughly 130 yards from the yellow tees which can catch the higher handicappers out. Most of the trouble is not in play due to the wide fairway, and the closer to the green you get the less trouble there is. The green is guarded by two bunkers which are both very much in play both off the tee and with the second shot if you cannot reach the green in one. the one of the left is much tougher than the right bunker, and if the flag is tucked in behind the left bunker it will be very tough to make your sand save. You do not want to go long on this hole, as there is a copse of trees about 15-20 yards over the back of the green which can catch people out in the summer when the ground is hard. A definate birdie chance which could be much needed after the previous very tough 12th.
The Green
The green is not to bad on this hole, and quite often a longish putt could be holed. There is a slope which runs in between the two bunkers, separating the front and back sections of the green. If the flag is in the middle of the green you will not have a putt which does a great deal from within 15 feet of the hole. If you miss the green you should not have too much difficulty chipping on.
