5th Hole
The Tee Shot
This hole is a slight dog leg from the left to the right, but only the big hitters will need to worry about playing for the dog leg when they are stood on the tee. The ideal drive is straight down the middle, although the longer hitter would be aiming in between the two conifers on the right. There are trees down the right of the hole all the way down, and on the left the trees run from the top of the hill all the way down. Both sets of trees are not to diffucult to get out of, but depending on the flag the right had side will make getting the ball close harder. A 150 yard tee shot to the top of the hill will leave another 150 yards to the green. When you stand on the tee you know this hole is definately a good birdie chance. The longer hitter can drive the green in the summer.
The Approach
The approach to the green is never going to be very difficult after an average or good drive, with only a small club required to reach the green. There are two bunkers which need to be avoided, one on the right and one on the left, but avoiding these is not too difficult. There is a copse of trees at the back right of the green, which when coming out of the trees on the left can be in play. There is plenty of room left if you miss the green, and other than this group of trees there is not that much trouble on the right. Normally a shot pitched just on the green will run out nicely to the middle of the green. This green is normally one of the most firm on the course, which can make getting the ball very close that little bit harder.
The Green
This green can also give some tough putts, which can be the only downside to not making a birdie. There are a number of tricky slopes and breaks on this green, so there is not any standard line or movement that the ball will take. Some of the breaks are very clear to see whereas others will have you ball rolling on completely the wrong line. Although the hole is a very good birdie chance a bad second shot which does not end up near the hole could lead to a three putt and a disapointing bogey.
