7th Hole
The Tee Shot
This hole is anything but easy, and starts off a run of three potentially problematic holes. As you stand on the tee you can see a lot of trouble. The main eye catcher being the big tree in the middle. This tree is no problem for the big hitter, as a drive can easily sail over this tree. A drive over this tree is the ideal line on this hole, as you want to be middle-left of the fairway. You can see that the left side of the hole contains a copse of trees which runs all the way down to the ditch. There is another ditch further left of this copse as you can see from the tee. The ditch which runs accross the middle contains water in two parts. From the tee you will be able to see a yellow stake to the right of the big tree. To the left of this the ditch contains water. There is no water to the right until you get to the next yellow stake and the ditch on the right. To the left of the big tree over the ditch there are more trees to avoid, and you can also see from the tee by looking right that there are a number of trees which run down to the ditch on the right. From this ditch there is then a copse of trees which you will also need to avoid. There is also a small bush in the fairway in the dip which while not large in size can sometimes be found.
The Approach
The approach shot to the green is just as hard as the tee shot. The main hazard to watch out for is a ditch, which sits roughly 40 yards short of the green. It runs accross the whole width of the hole, and although it is not very deep there have been many players searching for balls in this ditch. A lay up to the ditch is certainly an option that should be considered for the average handicapper, while the higher handicapper will possibly be laying up in three. There are also trees running all the way down the left of the hole and all the way down the right of the hole. These trees run both before and after the ditch. There is a copse of trees which is over the back of the green and runs round to the left hand side of the green as well. This is probably 15 yards off the green, but in the summer balls can easily bounce into these trees. There are also two bunkers, one front left of the green, and the other short right. This one is about 20 yards short of the green, and it is a very wide bunker and very tough to get the ball close to the flag from this bunker. There is more room to miss the green right if you avoid the bunker, as although there are a number of trees you will be unlucky to not have a shot.
The Green
The green is not to difficult, although there are a number of slopes. The green slopes a lot from the back into the middle, and there is also a significant slope at the front of the green where there used to be a bunker. This green tends to break as you read it, with not many putts tending to go against the break that will be read. A par here is good, if you manage to make a birdie you should be extremely happy.
