9 Hole Monthly Social Comps
These competitions are to be played monthly, although depending on the amount of people who play, there may be additional nights that are run. All of the competitions are to consist of 9 holes pairs betterball stableford. This format is where you play together as a pair, and whoever gets the most points on that hole goes down on the card, with those points scored on the card. If player A got 3 points, and player B got 2 points, player A's score would go on the card. You can pick your own partners. You can play anytime after 5pm, and you can tee off at whatever time after 5pm you wish, as long as you are back in the clubhouse by a decent time to give people a chance to check the cards. The entry fee is £1 per person, and you will need to pay in the clubhouse before you go out to play. The winners will be the pairs with the most points.
There will be additional prizes as well. There will be a longest drive for each competition, and there will also be a nearest the pin in 2. Both of these might not always apply to both male and female members. IT might be that men have nearest the pin in 2 and the ladies have longest drive. There will be prizes given out for the winners of these.
To play in these compeitions you do not need an official handicap. If you know somebody who has recently started playing, why not bring them down and get them involved. People without official handicaps will be given a temporary unoffical handicap. These competitions are going to be very much friendly, with hopefully some of the existing members bringing friends down to the club who might wish to join the club.
After the golf there will be a chance to play pool and snooker, with the possibility of other activities also taken part in the clubhouse and around. There will hopefully be some putting and perhaps chipping competitions. Anybody is welcome, so why not come down and bring a friend or family member, or as many as you want. If you are struggling to find sombody to play with there will be other people down the club at various times after 5pm.

The competition was played in the evening of the 22nd May 2009, and everybody who played in the compeition enjoyed it, and they all felt it was a good laugh. There were quite good numbers considering it was the first, and in the end the winners were Ian Timmins and Gary Smith. Gary played with Ian as Ian was short on a partner. Ian played some fantastic golf throughout the 9 holes, finishing off with a good 15 foot putt on the 18th which won them the competition. Dale Baker won the nearest the pin in 2 shots for the men, while Cathy Smith won the ladies longest drive. Both of these were played on the 18th. The competition was very well organised by Gary and Cathy Smith, and also to Muriel Whittaker who helped to take the money in the clubhouse before people went out. The date of the next competition is yet to be fully confirmed, but as soon as it is confirmed details will be posted on the website.
