Mens Prize Winners Summary

As always with Presidents Day the day would not have been a success were it not for the two Presidents, David Leet and June McNeelance who have done a fantastic job in organising the golf and also the fantastic prizes which were given out on the day. The two Presidents also did a fantastic job greeting the players both before teeing off and after 9 holes at the tent. The day was enjoyed by all but would not have been a success had it not been for the Presidents. A big thank you also goes out to Richard Primrose who has also been a big help in sorting out the competition, giving plenty of help to both Presidents in making the day a success. Richard was down the club extremely early in the morning to sort people out with cards and then run all the cards through the computer as soon as he finished his round. These days would also not work without Richard. The ladies handicap secretary, Cathy Smith, also played a big part in sorting out all of the ladies cards once they had finished their rounds by running them all through the computer. Dave Goodman and Mark Allen also did a fantastic job in setting the tent up very early in the morning, arriving at the club around 5.30 AM to get everything set up. Mark is not a member of the club anymore but still comes down at this time of the morning to help out, so a big thanks goes out to these guys. Dispite a change in the ladies running the tent this year due to other commitments they all did a fantastic job meeting and greeting people after 9 holes, sorting people out with food & drinks. The ladies in the tent always do a fantastic job and this time was no exception, so a big thanks goes out to Helen Seal, Angela Rushin and Georgina Rushin. The day would not run as well as it would were it not for all these people, so thank you to everyone who helped out.

Mens Gross

The best Gross score of the day was a very solid 1 under par 71 from Tidge Gharial, who continues his very good form after winning the Handicap Trophy a few weeks ago. Tidge's 71 was good enough to win the Gross by 1 shot, with Ed Eley shooting a 72 to just miss out on a second consecutive Gross Prize in Presidents Day. Current Club Champion John Briers also shot a very solid Gross score, with his 74 also just missing out on the Gross Prize.
Mens Division 1
With Tidge taking the best Gross with his 71, which equated to a Nett 66, the runner up in division 2 took the winners prize. This was Ed Eley who finished with a Nett 69 after his 72 Gross. It was a very solid knock from Ed although it could have been better, as Ed left a few out there in the final few holes. John Briers took the second prize in division 1 with a Nett 70, while Asra took the third prize after a solid Gross 83 Nett 71. As a result of these scores Tidge has now been cut down to 4.4, Ed 2.5 and John 3.9. Dave Sewart and Roger Loach both shot level to their handicaps in division 1.
Mens Division 2
Mick Tebbutt would have won division 2 had he not won the main prize. Mick shot a wonderful Gross 82 Nett 65 off his 17 handicap to win the Presidents Putter, which is awarded to the best Nett score of the day. Mick has found some fantastic form recently, mainly thanks to a new driver, and he has used this form to win the last two competitions. It was a terrific knock and Mick has been cut down to 15.6 as a result, still with a playing handicap of 16. Due to Mick winning the main prize it was Dave Forrester who won the prize of 1st in division 2 with a Gross 88 Nett 71, beating Brian Fletcher-Warrington by a shot. Brian shot a Gross 86 Nett 72 to also finish 1 shot ahead of third placed Paul Hancock, who shot a Gross 92 Nett 73.
Mens Division 3
Brian Haines took the best Nett prize in division 3 with a Gross 92 Nett 71 off his 21 handicap. Brian has been playing some very solid golf this season and this score continued that trend. Brian won the diviosn by 1 shot, with Tony Connor in second place after a Gross 93 Nett 72. There were 3 players tied on Nett 73 although after count-back it was Daz Read who won a prize, his Gross 93 just good enough to beat Stuart Robinson (Gross 93) and Ray Clark (Gross 94.)
Mens 2s, Nearest The Pin and Longest Drive
There were 7 2's on Presidents Day, with Ed Eley, Asra, John Briers, Ryan Archer and Barry Frith also making a 2 on the 10th, while Jim Sawbridge and Derek Archer made 2's on the 16th. The nearest the pin on the 10th was won by Barry Frith, while there was also a prize for nearest the pin in 2 on the 9th. This was won by Dave Sewart. The longest drive was played on the 12th hole this time around and it was Adam Jacques who took the prize, narrowly out-driving Ed Eley in the process.
Juniors
Ian Timmins came in with a fantastic score of Gross 81 Nett 61 off his 20 handicap to win the Junior Presidents Day by an impressive 8 shots. Ian has been playing very well recently and even took the main prize on the Presidents Social Evening the previous Friday, so this fantastic result was always coming soon for Ian and it is certainly deserved. Well played Ian! Oli Fletcher-Warrington finished second to Ian with a Gross 78 Nett 69 off his 9 handicap, beating Junior Captain Andy Keogh by a shot. Andy shot a Gross 87 Nett 70, and he beat Ol'd brother Adam Fletcher-Warrington on count-back to win the 3rd prize. Adam shot a Gross 84 for his Nett 70. Danny Keogh also played to his handicap, shooting a Nett 72.
Ladies
Lady Presidents Day was won by Kerry Coulter with a Gross 82 Nett 70.
Past Presidents Cup
The Past Presidents Cup was won by Tom Doblander with a Gross 104 Nett 82.
