Word of caution ! when entering competions check your handicap. Dont make the same mistake i did.In the Dave Clarke Memorial i played off 18 unaware i had crept up to 19.It proved costly as i finished 2nd rather than joint 1st !

Agree with Wener course was great at the weekend - and I think the rough being grown to the length it is - is also better, the faiways are now more defined , the greens are also starting to roll very nice indeed - However I dont think the rough should be let to be grown much longer - at the moment its long enough to be penalizing but not long enough for you to lose your ball and slow down play - Its just perfect - Do Neal and Mark get these comments Ben - If not please print them and give them to Andrew

If your ball is in the hedge left of the 4th fairway or on the practice area it is deemed to be out of bounds.

Sorry boys, course is OK. Still a lot of improvement needed, greens need watering and still they bobble. But I agree, it's improved a lot over the last couple of weeks and I hope it lasts throughout the summer.

Could somebody from our committee please explain to me , why yet again we are under way with a competion, I believe 3or4 comps into the ORDER OF MERIT - and I now understand there is to be a rules and regs change to the points system??? - Is it really so difficult to get rules and regs sorted before players hit their first tee shots of the new season - Have we not learned from the past two winter leauges that rules and regs need to be in place before the competiton starts. It is Simply farsical to change rules and or not even have them in place before competitions commence.

I would just like to say how dissapointed i was to find out that the green fees have been reduced to £12. Having committed myself to a season ticket on the understanding that a round was £18 at the weekend and no direct debit till july.I thought on this basis even with the price increase a fair deal.If i had been informed that the green fees were to be reduced, i would have waited till July for the direct debit ! I who ever is responsible is been totally unreasonable.I personally with a young family struggled to pay up for the year . Thanks

When i seen the circus at the race course. I didnt realise that the clowns had got involved in the decesion making regarding season ticket priceing and green fees.Can someone tell me if i will get some money back ? I have been sold a season ticket on false pretences ! I would have quite happily paid £12 until the direct debit came into force. It sounds like someone is having their cake and has now eaten it !

I couldn't agree more. It's totally bizarre and defies logic. However, perhaps, this is as a result of our actions and someone does not like to admit that a mistake was made when the fees were decided on.

Great news about the 8th with the new Tee - Apart from the new tee making the 8th one difficult hole also the course will need to be re Indexed - hooray

Yeh, great news about the 8th tee ! It will now take me 4 shots to get to the green rather than 3 ! And thats if the winds behind me. The new bunker that they are creating on the 6th fairway. I think a pond would make it more interesting.Also the wild life would benefit from this.

The 14th. Good idea to grow the rough on the right hand side.Makes a straight forward hole, more challenging.Too many times ive seen players and that includes myself. Hit tee shots way out right and get away with it ! Also it prevents 24 and higher handicappers picking up 3 points for a bogey 5. Which i suspect is the real reason for the change.

Re the 14th and most of the racecourse holes - I thought at first the rough was just to long - and although i am getting punished a great deal at the moment with wayward drives - I actually believe its making the back nine as difficult as the front nine, which is great - you nowhave to concentrate for a whole 18 holes and not just the first 8- the course is also looking in great nick and with the added growth of the rough the fiarways are looking really defined - Oadby is becoming a hard place to shoot a good score - I do not know weather that was intended but if so well done, we have a course at the moment that is difficult which is great for all those hackers who actually would like to improve thier golf. ha ha long live the rough , anybody want to be my ball spotter

I was wondering how people are finding the course - I know the greens are a bit iffy but then who's isnt every now and then - love the rough love how tough the course is playing - does anybody agree?

I would agree, the long grass that has been let to grow on the racecourse,,has really improved the holes and gave them a feel of a links course.The greens are awful, i think they are better in the winter than the summer !

Unfortunatly I think the the greens are now past repair, They look like all the grass is dead. When they are left without water for long periods of time ie april and june then this is inevitable.

The question has to be asked of why did nobody bother to water them when it was plain to see to all that they were dying? A wet july is all to late!

Apart from that the course is looking great, shame about them greens though!

I agree with Mr Vale. Some of the greens require major surgery to bring them back to a reasonable standard. What a shame, because the general condition of the course is not bad at all.

I love the changes to the 14th, how the rough on the right has made the hole more testing ! But what i dont agree with is how they are letting the grass grow in the fairways. Getting pusnished for a good drive is not my idea of golf !

I played up at Humberstone Heights a few weeks ago during that wet spell ( the whole of the summer !) On that particular sunday they had preffered lies, due to the fact it was to wet to cut the fairways. So if the fairways up at Oadby are not going to be cut properly then i think there should be preferred lies .
